Artists Statement
Katie Linde is a local artist living in Nashville, and if anyone knows the essence and energy of Nashville, it’s Katie. Katie has lived in Nashville her entire life and grew up surrounded by the country music business. Her grandfather started Combine Music, one of the most successful music publishing company's in Nashville. Her father was just as talented, writing country music hits which led to his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. When Katie decided she
wanted to attend Belmont University, she did not major or minor in music, as one might expect. Instead she devoted her time to a different creative passion and graduated from Belmont with a BFA in studio art. While at Belmont, Katie had the opportunity to intern for the theater department where she prepped and painted the backdrops for some of Belmont's theatrical plays. She was also able to travel abroad to Florence, Italy where she took a course in advanced painting techniques and jewelry making. Italy quickly humbled Katie, changing the perception of her art, and she returned home with a whole new appreciation for her craft. She learned that her portfolio needed to be more diverse. For the next four years, she worked at broadening her medium, style and technique. She began painting children's wall murals. She sold commission pieces for friends, family and clients. She challenged herself further by illustrating a children's book. These four years helped shape Katie's unique style. Whether she is creating something for herself, or painting a commission piece for a client, she always seems to keep that same sense of style, honed from the experiences that helped shape her as a artist. Katie has said, ". . . being an artist does not have to be a hobby, it can be a dream that you live for. I'm painting my life and living my dreams. . .
“Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.” Katie Linde"
